The Mediterranean Diet among Spanish children and youth 2 to 24 years old.

This is the first study evaluating the degree of compliance with the Mediterranean Diet in Spanish children and youth. The results indicate that the regions of Northern Spain, cities and the middle and upper classes have it easier to follow a Mediterranean Diet. It seems that this population is moving away from the healthy Mediterranean Diet eating pattern and interventions should be undertaken to remedy the situation.
