NEWSThe Interactive Fish Centre, an innovative project to discover the world of fish and shellfish, officially opened.
On June 14th, the Interactive Fish Centre (CIP), specialized in commercial fish, with a vocation to educate and inform, was officially opened in Barcelona. This is an innovative, unique and rigorous project that shows the process followed by fish and shellfish, since it is caught until they reach the table of homes and restaurants. The process, however, stops at each stage where the hand of man is involved in preparing for the sale and marketing of fish. The tour concludes with the health benefits of eating fish at all ages. The main objective of CIP is to promote a greater understanding of fishery products among youth, especially primary school students. It aims to promote fish consumption in Catalan families through educating children. The project is driven by the Association of Fish Wholesalers of Barcelona and Province (GMP), in collaboration with Mercabarna. Public and private entities also participate, such as: the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Action, the European Fisheries Fund, the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs, FROM, the Municipal Institute of Markets of Barcelona, the Mediterranean Diet Foundation, the Obra Social “La Caixa” and the Supermarkets Bon Preu and Sorli Discau, to name a few.
